Usage [ ]

Two items of the same type and material can exist placed anywhere on the crafting grid or grindstone, which results in a single repaired detail. The immovability of the repaired particular equals the sum of the erstwhile items' durability plus a 'repair bonus' of 5% of the detail'due south maximum uses, up to a limit of the maximum durability for that particular. Repairing gives a slight benefit in conserving inventory space, every bit information technology combines two non-stackable objects into 1.[ane]

The repaired object is never enchanted even if both items were to accept the verbal same enchantments, with the exception of curse enchantments, which are transferred to the repaired particular. Therefore, using a "junk" detail in a repair may sometimes be useful for removing an unwanted enchantment from an particular prior to enchanting it over again. Tools made of different materials (for case, a wood and a stone pickaxe) cannot be combined.

Formula for uses restored [ ]

The formula for determining how many uses a repaired item can take restored to it in the crafting box, is as follows:

          min(Detail A uses + Item B uses + flooring(Max uses / twenty), Max uses)

where "floor" ways circular down to the smaller integer, and "min(x,y)" ways the smallest of 10 or y.

Example: Two stone axes have x and 45 uses. A newly crafted stone axe would have 61 uses.

ten + 45 + 132/twenty = 55 + six.6 = 61

Or, in terms of pct (approximated):

7.5% + 34% + 5% = 46.5%

The greatest do good is gained when the two items take a combined durability of at nigh approximately 95%, in any combination, such as 47.5% + 47.five%, 94% + 1%, ten% + ten% or any other values that total 95% or less. The society in which items are combined does not thing; one sequence of repairs gives exactly the aforementioned durability equally whatever other.

In the example, repairing a stone tool restores a bonus of 6 durability, which is actually just 6/132 = 4.5%. The precise combined durability for efficient repairs is shown in the following table.

Particular Bodily bonus (%) Bodily bonus (uses) Combined immovability (%) Combined durability (uses)
Golden tools three.0% ane 97.0% 32
Wooden tools v.0% 3 95.0% 57
Rock tools 4.5% half-dozen 95.5% 126
Iron tools 4.eight% 12 95.two% 239
Diamond tools five.0% 78 95.0% 1484
Netherite tools 5.0% 101 95.0% 1931
Carrot on a stick iii.eight% one 96.two% 25
Flintstone and steel 4.6% 3 95.iv% 62
Angling rod 4.6% three 95.iv% 62
Shears iv.six% 11 95.4% 228
Bow iv.nine% 19 95.1% 366

A perfect repair is theoretically possible, just unlikely in practice. Combining items whose combined immovability is more than 100% really wastes more resources than but using tools until they pause.

The precise combined durability for efficient repairs for all types of armor is shown in the post-obit tabular array.

Anvil Repair [ ]

An anvil tin can also repair items in ii different ways. This costs experience levels, but unlike the grindstone, the anvil preserves or can even enhance the target'due south enchantments. The anvil can combine the enchantments on two similar items, or rename any item (non just the ones it tin repair). The costs are complex, and then a summary is given here.

The repair cost is stored in a repairCost value.

Combination [ ]

2 items of the same type are put into the input slots; the kickoff one is the detail to be repaired and the 2d one is to be merged into the first. The 2d detail's immovability is added to the starting time, and if applicative, some or all enchantments from the second particular are added.

Unit repair [ ]

Some items can exist repaired by "covering" the damage with a specific cloth. The item to be repaired is put into the first input slot, and the corresponding material is put into the 2nd slot. Each material item (unit of measurement) heals the particular's immovability by 25% its maximum immovability, rounded down.

Anything non listed below does not have a unit repair item, and can be repaired only by consuming another instance of itself.
